2023.10.9
Release date: April 15, 2025
PostgreSQL for Process Mining Airflow databases
For Process Mining on Automation Suite 2023.10.9 or higher, you can now choose to use PostgreSQL for the AutomationSuite_Airflow database. If you choose not to use PostgreSQL and keep using Microsoft SQLServer, Process Mining on Automation Suite will run with a legacy version of Airflow.
Refer to SQL Requirements for Process Mining for more information on how to set up a PostgreSQL AutomationSuite_Airflow metadatabase.
You are recommended to move to PostgreSQL for the Airflow database, as PostgreSQL runs with the latest versions of Apache Airflow. Latest versions of Apache Airflow have various functionality, performance, and security fixes that older versions lack.
Upcoming removal
In Process Mining on Automation Suite 2025.10, we will no longer support Apache Airflow versions older than Airflow 2.9.0. This implies that, starting with Process Mining on Automation Suite 2025.10, you can no longer use Microsoft SQL Server for the AutomationSuite_Airflow database. Newer Airflow versions do not support Microsoft SQL Server for Airflow meta databases.
For the AutomationSuite_Airflow database, a PostgreSQL database is required for Process Mining on Automation Suite 2025.10. This will apply to both new installations and existing installations that upgrade to 2025.10.
You can already start using PostgreSQL for the AutomationSuite_Airflow database in Process Mining on Automation Suite 2023.10.9.
